With the change of season, your sleep routine can be affected.
Winter is no exception!
So that you and bub can sleep soundly through the chilly season, we’ve compiled the top 3 tips to get through Winter with your Glow!
Why Room Temperature Is So Important.
The best temperature for a baby’s room is around that 18°C – 22°C mark.
Research has shown that when bub is sleeping in a room that’s too hot, it can increase the risk of SIDS. When sleeping in a room is too cold, bub will be more likely to wake up!
It’s important to know that baby regulates their temperature through their head.
When tucking baby into bed, ensure that the blanket only comes up to their chest, and they’re positioned towards the bottom of the cot.
This is also known as SIDS safe sleeping!
The humidifier aspect of the Glow has cool mist technology and works to put the moisture back into the air.
This helps in maintaining an evener room temperature, ease of breathing and stops airborne viruses!
A room with dry air (this occurs when the heater is on) can cause your nose and throat to dry out and this can cause irritation.
Feeling Grumpy in Winter?
With Winter comes less daylight. This can cause Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD.
SAD has been known to link directly with Serotonin and Melatonin.
With the change of daylight hours, you can produce higher amounts of Melatonin. As you’ve probably heard us mention a thousand times before, this is the hormone released by the brain that makes you sleepy.
You can also produce a lesser amount of the hormone Serotonin, which is the hormone responsible for your moods.
Turning on the green LED will help with your Serotonin production, improving your concentration and alertness. This also helps target the issue of producing Melatonin too early in the day!
The red LED can be switched on when it is time to calm down and unwind for the evening.
This allows that production of Melatonin to occur when it should so that you can maintain a healthy sleep routine!
Winter Wind-Down Routine
Winter can be a harder time to get your little one to settle, this can be due to the harsher conditions.
This can cause stress for you, bub, and the rest of the family.
It’s important to keep your routine!
Give bub their bath, allow them to warm up. Reading before bed will give that one-on-one time with mum or dad, helping, again, with the production of Serotonin.
We’ve spoken about the benefits of the red LED and its help in producing Melatonin, but along with this, it’s a great time to introduce the Glow Lullaby essential oil.
Glow Lullaby allows the mind and body to relax. After settling down with all the aspect of Glow, the whole family will be able to enjoy the evening stress-free and happy!
